Our Story & Ethos

Cultivating the Lost Art of Slow Travel

Founded on the belief that meaningful voyages require patience, quiet observation, and deep cultural reverence.

“We created 111111 to counter the hurried consumerism of modern tourism. A journey should leave both the landscape and the traveler permanently transformed.”

111111 is an independent digital publication and bespoke expedition atelier headquartered in the United States. We document remote corners, regional architectures, local agriculture, and places where silence remains unbroken.

Every guide, journal entry, and photography series is built on firsthand boots-on-the-ground research. We do not aggregate generic tourism snippets; we sit with ryokan caretakers in Japan, hike with alpine alpine foresters in South Tyrol, and record weather windows across Patagonian fjords.

Editorial Principles

  • Environmental Stewardship: Prioritizing rail transit, zero-waste shelters, and certified national sanctuaries.
  • Cultural Respect: Partnering with regional historians and generational custodians.
  • Aesthetic Integrity: Stripping away commercial noise to focus on natural materials, light, and silence.
